Spring Skiing…

Brian gets in one last run….

End of the season skiing and snowboarding is supposed to be the best time of the year. Couple some good food, some beverages and Easter in Stowe,and VT is where it’s at.stowe3

We traveled up north on the long Easter weekend to get that one last winter run. First stop was Prohibition Pig in Waterbury, VT:


This was the original home of the #1 beer in the world – The Heady Topper. It is now home to the best BBQ on Route 100 in Northern VT. They have really good beers on tap and all the BBQ items you could desire.

Next stop was Mt. Mansfield for some skiing and boarding:stowe1


The day we went was tough, with temps in the low 20’s, with some wind and snow.

We were able to get a few runs in before taking advantage of the lodge:


Once in the lodge we enjoyed more good food, drinks and live music. The next day was Easter and after celebrating with Lord:

We took part in the long standing Easter tradition of pizza and more beer.

We highly recommend Stowe for skiing and boarding anytime during the season. Tons of trail options, two full mountains (Spruce & Mansfield), great rental facilities and eateries make this a perfect destination. And if you are looking to unwind at night there are local bars, night clubs, fine dining and pizza joints galore. Just prepare for a long, dehydrated ride home at the end of the trip!

Sidenote – Vermont is home to some of the best small breweries right now. We sampled beers from The Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, Lawson’s Finest Liquids and Switchback.
